WHAT TYPES FOR FLAP DISCS?

· Before you buy flap discs, you should know about the different types of flap discs. The two main types of flap discs are Type 27 and Type 29.

· Type 27 vs. Type 29 Flap Discs

· The differences between the Type 27 and Type 29 flap discs are in the angle. The type 27 disc has a flat face whereas the type 29 flap disc has a conical shape with flaps angled towards the edges. The difference is subtle, but important since they are designed for different uses. That is why you should carefully consider the work being performed before choosing which one is right for the job.image.png

The Type 27 is a flat disc and is best used for finishing applications where the angle of use will be from 0 to 15 degrees. You can also do some mild grinding with the Type 2

WHAT IS SANDING DISC?

Types of Sanding Disc

There are mainly two types of sanding discs.

1.Adhesive-backed disc

Adhesive-backed sanding discs are attached to the sander with glue on the back. They are easy to use & easy to change. Still, they are being used less frequently as hoop & loop disc provides more advantage.

2.Hook & Loop disc

These are very similar to velcro. Hook & loop are more popular nowadays & they’ve replaced adhesive-backed discs. Although they are a bit expensive than the other sanding discs. But the price is worth it. They provide several advantages over the older sandpapers. These are easy to change, flexible, sustainable.

Type of Sanding Grits

1.Coarse Grit

Coarse grit is normally used at the beginning of a project to remove a large amount of material.

2.Fine Grit.

Fine grits give a smooth finish to the project. It is also used on sanding the edges of a surface.
